What is Whey Protein Isolate (WPI)?
Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) is an ultra-filtered form of whey protein containing over 90% protein. During processing, most of the fat, carbohydrates and lactose are removed, resulting in a lean, fast-absorbing protein ideal for muscle recovery and daily protein intake.
Is WPI better than WPC
It depends on your goals.
WPI contains a higher percentage of protein and lower levels of fat, carbohydrates and lactose than Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC). If you’re looking for the leanest protein available or are sensitive to lactose, WPI is often the preferred choice.
When is the best time to take WPI?
WPI can be enjoyed any time you need a convenient source of high-quality protein.

Is WPI suitable if I’m lactose sensitive?
WPI contains significantly less lactose than standard whey protein due to the additional filtration process.
While many people with mild lactose sensitivity tolerate WPI well, it still contains milk and is not suitable for those with a diagnosed milk allergy. Try our Vegan Range Instead!

We were looking for an isolate which was both a high quality source of protein and presented fair value. We're now onto our third purchase of Pro-Matrix Naked Whey WPI and couldn't be happier. We have greater flexibility with an unflavoured product. Most of the time we use it straight but other times, when we want something a little sweeter, we mix it with a flavoured whey protein powder. As these tend to be a bit too sweet, blending the two helps to cut the sweetness. It mixes really well into shakes and yoghurt too. Great product.

When you’re an ‘older’ man you realise certain adjustments have to be made to retain muscle mass, bone density and mobility, and avoid injury (as much as possible) Making sure to get enough high quality protein is paramount. Adding WPI to top up protein intake works well, without having to add an extra protein meal and extra calories I don’t need. I’ve used ProMatrix for many years, can’t fault the product, 100%.

This is the tastiest protein powder with no added artificial or natural sugar alternatives. The best on the market and is a must try for those who hate the aftertaste of natural sugar alternatives or artificial sugars. I blend it with frozen bananas and milk but tastes great with water too!
